Different research around the world has concluded that the healthy fats in olive oil keep the brain healthy and may even improve memory.
According to a new clinical study, a Mediterranean diet with many nuts and plenty of olive oil can delay the decline of cognitive capability as well as improve brain performance, memory and rational cognition.
Above and beyond, a study from the year 2013 showed that a further Phenolic compound in olive oil, namely Oleocanthal, acts in a neuroprotective capacity and can protect us from Alzheimer’s, a leading cause of dementia. The results may explain why the Mediterranean diet, in which so much olive oil is consumed, is linked to better cognitive performance and lower rates in impaired mental performance.
